Watch the sun set over Manila Bay and experience one of the city’s most famous waterfront views along Roxas Boulevard.

Manila Bay is inseparable from the identity of Manila. For centuries its waters have connected the city with trade, travel and the wider world, while today the waterfront remains one of the easiest places to escape the dense streets of the capital for an open view of the sea.
The Baywalk along Roxas Boulevard provides one of the most accessible places to experience it, particularly in the late afternoon when people gather beside the water to watch the sunset.
See the Manila Bay Sunset
Sunset is the main reason many visitors come to the Baywalk.
Because Manila faces west across the bay, the sun descends directly toward the water. On a clear evening, the sky can change from bright gold to orange, pink and deep red within a surprisingly short time.
Arrive before sunset rather than at sunset. This gives you time to walk along the waterfront and watch the light gradually change.
Walk Along the Baywalk
The Baywalk is a waterfront promenade running beside Roxas Boulevard through the Ermita and Malate areas.
It is a simple experience rather than a conventional tourist attraction: walk beside the bay, watch local life, take photographs and enjoy the open waterfront.

The contrast is very Manila. Behind you is the traffic and activity of Roxas Boulevard; in front of you is the enormous open expanse of Manila Bay.
Roxas Boulevard
Roxas Boulevard follows the Manila Bay shoreline and has long been one of Manila’s best-known roads.
Hotels, government buildings, cultural attractions and residential towers line different sections of the boulevard, while coconut trees and views across the water give parts of it a distinctly different atmosphere from central Manila.
The boulevard also connects several attractions that visitors may already have on their itinerary.
Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach
Part of the waterfront has changed significantly in recent years with the development of the Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach.
The project created a light-coloured artificial beach along part of the shoreline and has become another popular place for visitors to view Manila Bay.

It is best experienced as part of a broader walk along the waterfront rather than as a traditional swimming beach.
Best Time to Visit
Late afternoon is easily the best time to experience Manila Bay.
Arrive roughly an hour before sunset. You can explore the waterfront in daylight, watch the sunset and then see the city lights begin to appear along Roxas Boulevard.
Clouds can sometimes make the sunset even more dramatic, although Manila’s weather naturally means every evening is different.
How Much Time Should You Allow?
Allow approximately one to two hours for a relaxed visit.
Manila Bay works particularly well at the end of a day spent exploring Rizal Park, Intramuros or the National Museum Complex.
Getting to Manila Bay and Baywalk
The Baywalk runs alongside Roxas Boulevard, west of the Ermita and Malate districts.
The northern part of the waterfront is relatively close to Rizal Park and Manila Ocean Park, making it easy to combine these attractions.
Traffic along Roxas Boulevard can become heavy, particularly around rush hour, so allow additional travel time when arriving by car or taxi.

Tips for Visiting Manila Bay
Bring a camera or phone with enough battery for sunset photographs.
Late afternoon provides cooler temperatures than the middle of the day and gives you the best combination of daylight and sunset views.
Take your time. Manila Bay is one of those places where the experience comes from simply walking, watching the city and enjoying the changing light over the water.
Experience Manila Bay
Manila Bay offers something very different from Manila’s churches, museums and historic fortifications. The wide horizon, waterfront atmosphere and famous sunset provide a relaxing way to end a day exploring the city.
